The Yuva Project emerged as a rapid-response initiative following the devastating earthquakes of February 6, 2023, in southeastern Turkey. Formed by a multidisciplinary collective of filmmakers, designers, sociologists, and architects, the organization set out to provide dignified, human-centered solutions for those displaced by the disaster.
At the core of the project was the development of modular timber housing units, conceived as transitional shelters that offer warmth, safety, and a sense of belonging. As part of the design team, Studio Fandam contributed to the creation of a flexible panel system optimized for efficient assembly and scalable production.
Beyond advanced 3D modeling and fabrication drawings, Studio Fandam also undertook the visual communication of the project, designing a comprehensive user manual that clearly outlined the step-by-step process for constructing a Yuva unit. Developed with clarity and accessibility in mind, this manual became an essential guide for volunteers, builders, and local communities. More than just an instructional tool, it reflects the studio’s core value: preserving and communicating the intelligence behind design decisions as a form of collective memory and ongoing learning.
