Ceramic Tile Design – Competition Entry

Transmitter is a ceramic tile design proposal developed for a competition centered on the theme of "interaction during the pandemic" — how we connect without physical touch. Inspired by the invisible but vital synaptic transmissions between neurons, the design explores forms that reflect non-physical contact and communication.
The tile's sculptural geometry echoes the flow of signals between neural pathways, representing energy, delay, and transmission. Just as neurons bridge distances with electrical impulses, Transmitter proposes a tactile surface that captures the idea of connection through space, not direct touch.
Designed as a modular ceramic piece, the pattern invites dynamic wall compositions, creating surfaces that appear to ripple with energy and presence. Through this, the project reimagines the tile not just as a material element, but as a spatial narrative, one that resonates with the emotional and social realities of the pandemic, era of isolation and connection.
